Hello, I bought an HP server with a ROK 2022 standard Windows server license. On the physical machine it activated but on the Hyper-V virtual machine it does not activate. How can I fix?

SolutionHello,
To activate the ROK (Reseller Option Kit) license for Windows Server on a Hyper-V virtual machine, you need to follow these steps:
Ensure that your virtual machine is running the same version and edition of Windows Server as the ROK license you purchased.
Make sure that your Hyper-V host server is properly licensed with the correct edition and version of Windows Server. The host server's license can affect the activation of virtual machines running on it.
Verify that the virtual machine has a stable internet connection. Activation requires internet connectivity to communicate with the activation servers.
Check if the virtual machine has access to the host's hardware resources, specifically the network adapter. Ensure that the virtual machine is configured with a virtual network adapter and that it is connected to a network that has internet access.
Attempt activation using different methods:
a. Automatic Activation: In the virtual machine, open the Activation settings by going to Start menu > Settings > Update & Security > Activation. Click on "Activate" and choose the automatic activation option if available. This method will attempt to activate the virtual machine online.
b. Manual Activation: If the automatic activation fails, you can try manual activation. Open the Command Prompt as an administrator within the virtual machine. Type the following command and press Enter: slmgr /ipk <product_key>, replacing <product_key> with the product key provided with your ROK license. Then, enter the command: slmgr /ato to attempt activation.
If the virtual machine still doesn't activate, contact Microsoft support or the reseller from whom you purchased the ROK license. They should be able to assist you further with activation issues and provide any necessary troubleshooting steps or additional licenses if required.

Re: Activate Rok license on Hyper-v
If you have already activated the ROK (Reseller Option Kit) license on the physical machine but it's not activating on the Hyper-V virtual machine, there are a few possible reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
Ensure the license is properly installed: Verify that the license key is correctly entered in the virtual machine's operating system. Double-check for any typos or errors when entering the license key.
Check the license usage terms: Some licenses, such as OEM licenses, are tied to the physical hardware and may not be transferrable to virtual machines. Review the licensing terms for your specific ROK license to determine if it can be used on virtual machines.
Verify the virtual machine's hardware configuration: Ensure that the Hyper-V virtual machine is configured correctly, meeting the necessary hardware requirements for the Windows Server version you are trying to activate. Check the assigned CPU cores, RAM, and storage settings to ensure they align with the license limitations.
Activate the virtual machine via the Automatic Virtual Machine Activation (AVMA) feature: If you are using a Datacenter edition of Windows Server, you can leverage the AVMA feature to automatically activate the virtual machine. Ensure that the virtual machine is configured with the correct edition of Windows Server (Datacenter) and is connected to the internet. The AVMA process should activate the virtual machine automatically.
Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the above steps resolve the activation issue, it is recommended to reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. Provide them with the details of your license, including the license key and any error messages you may have encountered during the activation process. They will be able to provide you with specific guidance based on your situation.
Remember to comply with the licensing terms and ensure that your use of the license is within the allowed scope.
