CBII 9.1 & W2K

I had need of my DR Set but it stopped on the second disk due to a corrupted file. Was this error related to a support doc I found on the HP site says that "some user of the Windows 2000 Professional OS manufactured after June 1, 2000 may be unable to make or use disaster recovery diskettes created by HP Colorado Bakcup II software"?? In other words, does CBII (I'm using 9.1) still have issues with W2K?

Yes.

Try backup mypc.
I you are lucky than it works fine.

Best advise:
sell the drive and buy a proper software supported device!

Re: CBII 9.1 & W2K

Karl-

I don't think your particular problem with the second disk is due to the documented issues. The main problem seems to be with how the OS is distributed on CD-Rom, in particular, with OEM versions of the operating system.

But, YES, I have found issues with Colorado Backup II V9.1 and Win2K Pro.

And, I have also found issues with the Backup MyPC program and Win2K Pro.

You didn't state whether you were using the internal or external tape drive.

Perhaps you can get your system restored via the following steps:

1) Restore your OS and all appropriate service packs.

2) Load any device drivers needed for your motherboard chipset, etc., and for the backup tape drive.

3) Reinstall your backup software (eg, CBII v9.1).

4) Use your Disaster Recovery tape or another "Full Backup" of your system to perform a "Full System Restore".

Re: CBII 9.1 & W2K

Tim,

What are the issues with backupmypc.

I received:
Hello Dick,

Thank you for contacting the Storage, Services, and Support Organization
of Hewlett Packard.

Backup My PC software does support external drives, including the 20 gb
external drive.

You can download the trial version from:

<>
[Or]
Get it by calling their distributor Orlogix. You can get the phone
number near your area from the link below:
<>

Software name is Backup My PC ver. 4.71 and is compatible with Windows
NT, 98, ME, 2000 and XP. And as being an existing HP customer you will
get the upgrade at discounted price of $29 (U.S.) for download and $39
(U.S.) if you want it on a CD. Actual price of the software is $99
(U.S.).

If you continue to have problems after trying the suggestions given, we
recommend calling our Technical Support line. It sometimes is much
easier to resolve the issue when talking live with a technician when you
are at the system. The Technical Support number is 970-635-1500.
Technicians are available between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Mountain Time, Monday through Friday.

Re: CBII 9.1 & W2K

Dick-
Sorry I missed your question a while back. Maybe you still monitor this board.

The Backup myPC issues are with Disaster Recovery. It fails on the restore even though it goes thru almost all of the restore procedure before failing.

I think the problem that I was having was with their free trial version but that also means the full version would have the same problem (v4.81).

Stomp support for Backup MyPC finally stated that they were not supporting the external HP Colorados, due to some "driver issues".

Other than the failure to restore from a disaster recovery, the software performed OK. In fact, I was able to reload windows, tape device drivers, and the stomp software and then restore from a "Full Backup".
