HP xw8200 and HP Ultrium 215
I'm having one heck of a time getting my HP tape drive to work with my xw8200 HP workstation. I keep getting media failure, I've made sure that the drivers and firmware for the drive and system are up to date. I'm running XP Professional, i've even connected my older HP Dat40 drive and get the same problem, what am i missing ?

Re: HP xw8200 and HP Ultrium 215
What kind of controller do you have on it?
Or is it a USB ultrium?
The quickspecs for the xw8200 - http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11976_div/11976_div.html
does not have the word ultrium inside it.
Is it supported?
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/Workstations/13-0003-1013.html#matrixtable
for support definitions. As far as I can see, the xw8200 does not have any supported ultrium tape drives.

Re: HP xw8200 and HP Ultrium 215
The xw8200 has two onboard SCSI controllers i've got it connected to port 1, i have two SCSI drives on port 0. The strange thing is the tape drive can only be seen at SCSI ID zero, anything else and LSI doesn't see it.

Re: HP xw8200 and HP Ultrium 215
maybe it's a setting of the on board scsi controller?
