MSL6000 - FSC8004 "invalid drive was installed"
in this msl6000 is one controller and only one lto2! I replaced the lto2 and the failure still displayed. the library says that in slot 1 a drive are installed. but there isn't one installed.
I replaced the controller, after then the controller-board, and I replaced the board in the slot where the drive are installed, but everytime, the failure are displayed. What can I do?

Re: MSL6000 - FSC8004 "invalid drive was installed"
Did you follow the procedures to replace the drive ?
http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00873645/c00873645.pdf
If not, the controller is probably expecting a different drive to be present.
You may need to use the "force reconfiguration" option to get the new drive recognised.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: MSL6000 - FSC8004 "invalid drive was installed"
Now the question is why it's giving that warning in the first place.
Could you tell which is the part number for the library or serial number, and which is the spare part number for the drive you have installed?
Have you tried reflashing the drive as well?

Re: MSL6000 - FSC8004 "invalid drive was installed"
sure, after replaced controller the lib says missmatched S/N...!
everytime I puched the "reforce .. " button.
and curiously, when I put 2 LTO2 drive in the lib (slot 1 and 2), then the slot 3 is the slot with the error.

Re: MSL6000 - FSC8004 "invalid drive was installed"
this part number you gave 350546-B22, where you get that number from?
Because that is and option part for a internal drive.

Re: MSL6000 - FSC8004 "invalid drive was installed"
If you replaced yourself the tape inside the cannister with a stand alone model, this will not work.
The LTO drives for the tape libraries have special FW and is different than the stand alone one.
ALso the change of firmware is prevented by the "personality" of the drive, that mean that a stand alone drive will not accept a automation drive.
I suspect (and the pn you write confirm that) that you have in your tape library a stand alone LTO then with wrong FW.

Re: MSL6000 - FSC8004 "invalid drive was installed"
The Hot-plug module and Ultra3 SCSI module assembly - Includes a SCSI I/O PC board with four very high density SCSI connectors attached to a hot-plug library module PC board with two 72-pin connectors was broken! I replaced the board, and now the library displayed no failure.
