MSL6480 uptime and lifetime

Hi guys,

i working with a MSL6480 with multiple expansion chassis which has been bought recently .we encounter so many issues with this library, which my manager had asked me to check th uptime and we are not sure if this appliances are brand new. we have no access to the supplier, i have checked the logs, it seems the chassis has been used 2021. is there any other way to confirm this and know when was the chassis were first setup and used?

regards,

Re: MSL6480 uptime and lifetime

@ledvan

Good day!

>> Check the Library Information. The library itself might store information about its uptime and last reboot time in its settings or management interface.

You can usually access this information through the library's web interface or command-line interface. Here are the steps:

a. Connect to the library's management interface. You might need the library's IP address or hostname.
b. Log in with the appropriate credentials.
c. Look for a section that provides information about the system, uptime, and possibly the last reboot time.
d. Note down the uptime and any other relevant information.

>> It's good that you've already checked the logs. Continue to analyze the logs for any additional information regarding when the library and expansion chassis were first set up or used. Logs might contain timestamps of key events like initial setup or installation.

>> If you have the Serial number you can contact HPE support or visit the HPE website: https://support.hpe.com/ to inquire about the manufacture date and any warranty information associated with that serial number. The manufacture date can give you a rough idea of when the unit was produced, but it might not directly tell you when it was first put into use.

>> If the library and expansion chassis came with any documentation or invoices, review them for information about the purchase date. Sometimes, this documentation may include details about the equipment's history.

Remember that while these methods can provide some insights, they may not give you a precise answer regarding when the equipment was first set up and used, especially if it has been reconfigured or repurposed in the past. It's also important to note that the logs and information available on the unit itself might have been reset or altered by previous users, so the data you find should be taken as a reference rather than definitive proof of usage history.

I hope this helps! Let me know
