NR: cause not reportable - What to do ?
Hey guys,
Got this error on one of our 1/8 G2 Autoloader. What to do ? With or without drive that's the same, we updated/downgraded firmware, still the same. Tried reset it to Factory Default, same... Coud it be possible to have a fresh/new "profile" (the .dbb files) or a way to hard reset the autoloader ?
Red big arrow is the problem, small one is the date of the autoloader (which is not the real date) and we can't modifiy it. It changed after the autoloader got this error.
Thanks

Re: NR: cause not reportable - What to do ?
Dear HParis
As per your given information, it is suspected, issue with Tape drive. Arrange to replace the drive by logging a support case with HPE if it is in warrenty. after replacement of drive make sure to update the latest firmware code.
Thanks & Regards...

Re: NR: cause not reportable - What to do ?
Hi Rabindra,
Well, we tried with 2 differents drives in this Autoloader (the one that was in this Autoloader from the start and another one from a MSL2024) and the error is still the same.
And the 2 drives are working because they're now both in a MSL4048, working solid for 1 month (we're only covering this issue now, but we had the problem NR Cause not reportable on this machine for a month)

Re: NR: cause not reportable - What to do ?
Hi HParis
Please check the hp StoreEver 1/8 G2 autoloader QuickSpec for supported device and drives information.
"NR: cause not reportable" error indicates a communication problem between the library and the tape drive. An issue with the librarys ability to interact with the drive. Whether Drive is all good, troubleshooting involves to checking inside cable connections, ensuring proper network configuration, and required potentially updating firmware or factory resetting for the autoloader.
Try removing and re-inserting the tape drive. try to check cable condition inside the library. Verify the network cable is properly connected and functioning. Try to Update the autoloader and tape drive firmware to the latest versions. Check for host server is configured to support multiple LUNs. If the error persists, try resetting the autoloader to factory defaults, run the wellness test through the Operator Control Panel (OCP) to check the overall functionality of the autoloader. Use HP Utility for tape libraries (HP L&TT) to diagnose the issue. If the error persists after these steps, contact HPE support for further assistance.
Thanks & Regards...

Re: NR: cause not reportable - What to do ?
We might need to contact HPE support indeed, because we tried all of that and that's still the same.
We even tried to upgrade/downgrade/reset to factory default the autoloader, but none of that is working, and in L&TT the autoloader is unseen. We'll try the wellness test on the OCP, I wasn't aware that it was possible on an autolaoder, only on libraries.
Thanks anyway !!

Re: NR: cause not reportable - What to do ?
Dear HParis
it need to get HPE support, might some criticle issue, or not supported device or firmware version might be there, it's resulted library device is not reconised. troubleshooting steps might be disturbed. one of HPE technician will physically checked and collect the logs for further troubleshooting.
Hope, your issues will be resolved ASAP.
Thanks & Regards...
