Ultrium 215 Firmware upgrade under Netware

Has anyone out there encounted "Short Term Memory Allocator Out Of Available Memory" error when loading HP's L&TT tools under Novell Netware 6.0. If anyone has any ideas on this please help.

Thanks

Re: Ultrium 215 Firmware upgrade under Netware

Peter,

I've not tried that, but I located some links on Novell's site about memory issues:

How to resolve memory leak issues. - TID10010632
http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10010632.htm

Error: "Short term memory allocator out of available memory." - TID10027411
http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10027411.htm

A really old one: Short Term Memory Allocator... - TID2914709
http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/2914709.htm

Some of the others pointed to not having a very high percentage of free cache buffers before loading another NLM.

I'm curious what backup software you're using as we're wanting to move from Arcserve to Omniback for our NetWare backups.

Good luck!

Re: Ultrium 215 Firmware upgrade under Netware

Thanks for the tips, we managed to get the program to start by remming out all NLMs from the Autoexec.ncf rebooting then running the HP Diag and firmware update tool. We are running Arcserve V9. We have been a Arcserve site for quite a while. We thought about changing to Veritas but after installing it we found it wasn't compatible with our hardware (or so the error said) so we went back to the devil we new...... I think we have almost ironed out every bug possible with Arcserve, as last night we got a perfect backup of our main file server (approx 130 GB)

Re: Ultrium 215 Firmware upgrade under Netware

I know the feeling about the devil you know! We're still running Arcserve 6.61 on NetWare (5.1), only because the previous upgrades were so ugly. It's starting to get super old though.

Anyway, congrats on the backup. That's always a good feeling!
