Long downtime IRF member

Hi,

we have an IRF with 4 HPE 5945 and need to shut down two of them for a couple of months.
Is that a problem or will they be automatically kicked out of the IRF at some point?

King regards

Re: Long downtime IRF member

Hello @evox ,

It wont be automatically kicked out unless until not removed the conencted port from IRF memeber.

How these members are connecte, in ring or daisy chain way?

Thanks!

Hi akg7,

Thank you for your prompt replay.

The members are connected in ring

1-----2

|        |

4----3

and we take out 2 and 3.

Re: Long downtime IRF member

Hello @evox ,

I believe it won't impact and no irf member will be removied automatically.

Can you share below output as well:

display irf
display irf topology

Thanks!

Re: Long downtime IRF member

Hello @evox ,

So like below the ring topology is connected:

IRF.jpg

You are good to shutdown SW2 & Sw3. If you are shutting down interfaces on SW2 and SW3 which are the part of IRF then you have to console access the SW2 and SW3 and manually shutdown the interfaces connecting to IRF else remove the IRF cable.
