Modem/s will not auto answer when connected to ML370

I have 3 external modems (2 serial port and 1 USB)which are configured to auto answer. When connected to a number of different PCs/Servers running anything from win 98 to server 2003 the auto answer function works perfectly. The problem is that when they are connected to the HP ML370 (running SBS 2003 premium edition)none of the modems will auto answer but they all dial out fine. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Did you run the network configuration wizard on the SBS Server to allow incoming dial-up connections?

If the modem is not connected to anything, is configured to answer the call, or the O.S. is the one who answer the call?

Re: Modem/s will not auto answer when connected to ML370

Hi,
had similar problems with SBS, I had to reconfigure the commands stored for Response, Startup, and Connect because SBS always tries to overwrite the initialization of the modem. For what I had to do, see http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=944039.
Hope this helps.

alles wird gut.

Re: Modem/s will not auto answer when connected to ML370

Thanks Ivan for your help but the server is setup to use remote routing and access so using the network connection wizard does not apply. On tests with another SBS server the modem answers regardless of whether the network wizard is run, remote access being setup or even without modem drivers installed. One thing I have discovered is that the only way the modem will auto answer is when HyperTerminal is open??

Thanks Helge but the link you provided dosen't seem to work. Maybe you could explain what you mean by reconfiguring the command set. Are you refering to a setting in SBS?
