UX Manager, Emil Aliev, develops meaningful HR experiences aligned to human behaviors
Since the beginning, HPE has advanced the way people live and work by creating innovative technology at the heart of successful organizations and communities all over the world. We invite you inside our careers and culture through stories of the people that power HPE—our team members.
Today, we’re hearing from Emil Aliev, User Experience Manager, focused on designing and developing consistent and exceptional experiences for team members by elevating HR technology platforms and HR services. Emil partners across teams to develop solutions to manage the vital data and transactions associated with Human Resources programs and processes.
Emil’s HPE career journey
Emil came to HPE as a web developer focused on Human Resources platforms. He helped to design a digital portal for team members to access HR information and became the content manager for Total Rewards. His passion for art, technology, and sociology, guided him to build a career focused on delivering a superior user experience with our HR digital tools.
Over the last 13 years, Emil has built a solid career within HR and now leads the User Experience team he founded under the People Systems Digital Experience and Intelligence team.
Team member straight talk
Q: You have a unique position within HR, how would you describe your work?
A: There’s a lot of transactions that happen across HR; things like getting paid, requesting time off, learning and development. For some of these things, we leverage off-the-shelf software to process the task. My job is to bring human-centered design to the team member Digital Experience and elevate HR systems and services by focusing on empathizing with our team members while they navigate critical employee lifecycle phases like onboarding, rewards, career development, employee support, among others (globally and country-specific). I partner with teams beyond HR like Global Communications, IT, Brand, and Hybrid Cloud Organization ensuring the digital experience is tailored to meet our business requirements while also providing a seamless experience to team members. The partnership is also to leverage internal UX tools, resources, and provide growth for UX talent.
Q: What motivates you to work for HPE?
A: Opportunities at HPE are endless and I’ve been able to build a meaningful career aligned to my areas of interest and passions. While my background is in web development, I’ve always had a love for art and sociology, so the opportunity to combine my skills and leverage my passions fit naturally with Human Resources. Through additional learning, I’ve developed professionally, changed my career and even my country of residence all while working at HPE.
Q: How do you redefine what’s next for your career?
A: It’s all about people, the human factor. I strive to elevate HR processes to help attract and retain top talent, foster productivity, and provide experiences that alleviate the workload through automation so people’s time is well spent. As many User experience designers, I’m constantly thinking about technology, human behavior, social trends, and solutions to help deliver the next user experiences. Consequently, and inevitably, my career grows organically as these factors evolve. Today, I am deep diving into AI so I can keep up to speed and provide solutions that will benefit our people and help them win for HPE.
