Sr. HR Business Partner, Lili Munoz built her career on people passion and business acumen
Since the beginning, HPE has advanced the way people live and work by creating innovative technology at the heart of successful organizations and communities all over the world. We invite you inside our careers and culture through stories of the people who power HPE—our team members.
Lili Munoz, Sr. Human Resources Business Partner, married her passion for people and business acumen to cross between Human Resources roles and business operations during her 11-year tenure at HPE.
Lili’s HPE career journey
Lili Munoz built an 11+ year career at HPE in Mexico through various roles in business planning and Human Resources. Her journey began as a recruiter where she learned a great deal about the company and different roles to support our work. This sparked her interest to learn more about the business and she moved to Business Planning for Sales Operations.
After a few years (and the completion of her Master’s degree in Talent Management), Lili wanted to apply her expertise back in Human Resources and took a role as a Compensation Analyst before becoming a Human Resources Business Partner. Lili is now a consultant and partner where, in partnership with her people leader and colleagues, they drive people strategy, organizational design, talent management, and workforce planning among other HR projects and initiatives.
Team member straight talk
Q: Wat motivates you to work for HPE?
A: I started my career in HR as a recruiter and as I learned about the business, I was able to attain a Business Planning position within Sales Operations. I learned a ton and saw first-hand how quickly technology changes and how challenging, and even sometimes scary, it can be due to its potential (nowadays, AI is a great example). HPE needs to have the right talent and make sure we are enabling the organization by advancing our people and talent strategies. My goal is to make a difference in this way, so I applied what I learned about the business to attain a role in Compensation before taking on an HR Business Partner position.
Q: How do you redefine what’s next in your career?
A: HR is my absolute and undoubtable passion and I love being able to connect it with technology. My career path will continue to be within HR making positive impact for the BU and HPE, however it’s important that while I gain experience that I work on my development. It’s best to be prepared for change and adjust in a high-speed manner at our industry’s pace.
Q: What advice would you give to others interested in your field?
A: Have a willingness to learn and don’t be afraid to make mistakes; no one is ever too old or too wise to not ask a simple question. There is plenty of room for growth, learning, opportunities, networking and much more. Just “go for it” and be willing to go outside your comfort zone. Come and join us!
