Re: Change single controller MSA500 G2

HI

I want to replace one of the two redundant controllers.
Can I remove it during operation of the system?
I found the description of the HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array500 Generation 2 Storage System Maintenance and Service Guide:

to remove redundant conntroler:
1.Determine if the controller configuration supports hot-plug cache replacement:

If the storage system is equipped with a single controller, power down the storage system (on page9).

If the system has redundant controllers and the replacement cache is a different capacity than the failed cache, power down the storage system (on page9).

If the system has redundant controllers and the replacement cache is the same capacity as the failed cache, proceed with step 2.
2.Remove the controller ("Modular Smart Array 500 Generation 2 Controller" on page 13).
3.Remove the existing cache module.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 if the storage system has redundant controllers and the
replacement cache is a different capacity than the failed cache.
To replace the cache module:
1.Install the module in the slot....

Thanks and regards
