lldp on ProCurve 4208vl (J8773A) - ProCurveManager

Hi,

we changed all our ProCurve switches (different models). If I added all new switches to PCM, I recognised that after some days there are no connections (vlan, link,...) in the network map to all the other switches.

All models show the discovery method "lldp". Only the 4208vl does not show it. In the manual I searched for lldp an find some info that this feature is enabled by default. Not on our switch!

On the CLI I used the command "show lldp config" which shows me LLDP is not enabled. Now I would like to activate it because I think this is the solution to my PCM problem.

Inside the manual they describe the command "run lldp" and "no run lldp". I tried both for testing:

"invalid input: run".

Can someone help me with this problem?

It should be "lldp run". Also you need to be in config mode.

Xxxxx # config
Xxxxx(config)# lldp run

Hi Richard,

"config mode" was the small sthin that I don´t see. Now the lldp is enabled. Hope that PCM now recognises the connections to the core switch.

Hi,

in config-mode I was able to activate lldp on one Procurve switch.

On another Procurve switch I can't activate lldp. After I typed "lldp run" in config mode it says still "inavlid input: lldp" in normal mode.

Has anyone an idea?
