======================================
LUN 0: 870 GB (approx) 6x300GB (DB1 & DB2)

LUN 1: 870 GB (approx) 6x300GB (DB1 & DB2)

LUN 2: 290 GB (approx) 2x300GB (DB1 & DB2)

LUN 3: 740 GB (approx) 6x300GB (APP1 & APP2)

LUN 4: 100 GB (approx) 6x300GB (WEB1 & WEB2)

Re: How can I map LUN to ZONE

Do you have multiple hosts on the same MSA1000? If so, you use SSP (Selective Storage Presentation) in the MSA controller to control which HBAs (by WWN) see the volumes.

Zoning is done on the SAN switches and controls what ports (or WWNs) can see each other on the SAN fabric. We normally set up zoning so the hosts can see the controller ports, then SSP is used to control the volumes that are visible to a specific host...

If there is only one host connected to the SAN and your MSA1000 then you can leave zoning disabled and not bother with SSP.

Re: How can I map LUN to ZONE

Yaqub,

In my opinion, you should use both SSP and SAN Zoning to maintain a standard environment. This will help you with your future upgrades without any more hassles.

First enable zoning at SAN switch and create zones for each host. (Zone one host with MSA ports in a single zone).

Second use SSP on MSA to assign selected LUNs to the host.

Best practices:
- rename the ports on SAN Switch.
- use sensible names for zoning and zone configuration.
- use appropriate naming convention for LUN creation and presentation.
- In a single zone, keep only one host. But you can keep more than one MSA ports.
- If you have tape devices connected to this san switch, use different zones for them.

My 2 cents worth.
