Zone conflict

Hi,

Whilst attempting to update zoning configuration, the switch on which I issued cfgEnable threw out a few strange errors, and then rebooted itself.

I've now got the situation where the two switches have got themselves segmented because of a zone conflict.

If I look at the zoning configuration, the configuration which I was trying to enable from F3_SW03 has saved OK onto switch 1, but doesn't appear to have saved on F3_SW03. This will explain the zone conflict message, but whats the best way of getting the two switches talking to each other again ?

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Zone conflict

I see two choices:

1) try to manually update the switch with the old zoning configuration to remove the conflict.

2) remove all initiator ports from the switch with the old config
- cut the ISLs
- disable and clear the zoning configuration
- re-establish the ISL so that it gets a new copy
- put back all initiators
- verify all paths
.

Re: Zone conflict

Thanks Uwe,

Using option 1, I recreated the missing bits of the configuration and successfully got the configuration enabled on the switch that was out of step.

It then just needed the ISL port to be disabled and re-enabled for the fabric to sort itself out.

Thanks again,

Rob

Re: Zone conflict

I have this problem also.

The two switches connected together through an ISL via an MPX110 have a segmented, (zone conflict) error. There is no zone config on the switch with the error specified.

I have attached a switchshow.

Re: Zone conflict

Right now you have 2 fabrics:

SGH-JSY-SSW2 and SGH-JSY-BLSSW2
SGH-JSY-DR-SSW2 and SGH-DR-BLSSW2

Are you trying to connect SGH-JSY-SSW2 and SGH-JSY-DR-SSW2 through port 31?
This will create a single fabric.
