LC3 replacement Hot Swap disks

I want to replace my hot swap disks with something bigger (18 or 36 gb). I have tried a
Fujitsu MAN3184 SCA ultra160 LVD, but it isn't
recognised, even though the same disk in its 68 pin version plugged directly into the on board SCSI controller is recognised.
Can anyone recommend any makes/models that do work in the hot swap bays?

Thanks

Re: LC3 replacement Hot Swap disks

I've seen so many problems with 3rd party drives in NetServers, that I would only be able to recommend hp part numbers. Typically, the problem is incompatible firmware.

The biggest hot swap drive sold for the LC3 was an 18GB, Ultra Wide. It is discontinued, but you should still be able to order a remanufactured drive for it. Part number is D5039AR. Call parts direct at 800-227-8164. List price is $320. Alternate drive that will likely work in that server is D7050A, list price is $786 new, and is still availble from hp.

If it's not available from hp, then there is a reseller in Austin, TX that specializes in used hp equip, they might have one in stock under part number D5039A. Call Paramount Computer Corp at 512-263-7010, or www.pmount.com.

Re: LC3 replacement Hot Swap disks

hi Paul
what you have to do first is to force your HDD in SE mode, check for a jumper on the hdd , in fact the HScage support only SE disks, and you are using a LVD one
