ENTRY_IO failed, status = -4 : Unrecoverable hardware error

Hi,

I tried to boot from a HPUX v1 FOE cd from MTOE OS. I got the following error:

ENTRY_IO failed, status = -4: Unrecoverable hardware error

Any solutions?

Any solutions:

1) Fix the hardware error. It may be related to the cd, but this is not bad media, so it could be anything. Contact HP hardware and ask them to diagnose and fix the system. If the system already has an OS on it, and actually boots, you may be able to use cstm,mstm or xstm to diagnose the issue.

In the end you will find a hardware fault and have to replace a part.

1. How old is the CD? What OS release is it labelled as? (11.11, 11.23, 11.31?)

2. WHat sort of server are you trying to boot it on?

Could be the CD is too old (or even too new) for the server in question.

We're trying to migrate the OS from MTOE to FOE.

At present we have the following OS on the server.

# swlist | grep -i oe
HPUX11i-MTOE B.11.11.0309 HP-UX Minimal Technical OE Component
#
# uname -a
HP-UX test3 B.11.11 U 9000/785 2013846943 unlimited-user license
#

We want to migrate it to 11i V1 FOE

When I try to boot from the CD-ROM containing the V1 FOE operating system, I get the error mentioned above.
