Font Size of CDE Login Panel

Env : HP-UX 10.20, B2000, CDE vers 1.0

Someone has changed the look of the CDE Login Panel & Front Panel so that the font size is very small & the panels are very much smaller as well.

How do I change them back to default size ?

I have already tried :
a) Goto [Appln Mgr] - [Desktop Tools] - [Restore Front Panel]. Logout & Login. Reboot.
b) Goto [Desktop Style Mgr] - [Font]: Size 4.
Logout & Login. Reboot. Also tried Size 7,etc.

Re: Font Size of CDE Login Panel

Are you sure someone has changed it ?

Are you logged directly onto the system or entering via a remote xterminal or PC connection ?

If yes it sounds almost as if the remote host has lost access to the correct set of fonts required. : check in /var/dt/Xerrors and consider setting up a font-server (xfs) to server the CDE fonts to the remote hosts : search say for xfs CDE and font server on this forum.

However just in case : the files you'd be after would be either /etc/dt/config/C/Xresources or /usr/dt/config/C/Xresources (/etc/... has preference) see

Dtlogin*Label and *textFont resources ?

Re: Font Size of CDE Login Panel

Alex

I am doing a local login to the Workstation.

You are right that there are errors in the /var/dt/Xerrors --
X unable to load extension driver; GLX

I will be setting up the Font Server on the workstation subsequently (workstation occupied currently), & let you know the results.

Thanks for the assistance.

Re: Font Size of CDE Login Panel

If its a local login the local machine will have access to the local fonts and should not need a font server to be set up ..... I'd go for my other suggestion(s)

Re: Font Size of CDE Login Panel

STOP .... I just re-read your problem description .....

Am i right in saying the fonts are large within a CDE session ie once the user has logged in ?

If this is the case what effect does changing the font size via dtstyle manager have initially ?

It sounds like a home or current session may have saved font settings which you do not require ?

Try a" mv $HOME/.dt $HOME/.dt_orig" whilst your user is logged out of CDE, log back in ....any better ?

Re: Font Size of CDE Login Panel

Alex

Thanks again for your asst.

When we change the font size via DTSTYLE Mgr, it affects only the newly opened windows. However, the CDE Login Panel & CDE Front Panel remains small.

Deleting $HOME/.dt & relogin has no effect.

Anything else that I can try ?

Re: Font Size of CDE Login Panel

OK so it is the front panel you wish to increase the font size for ... did you try the resources I mentioned earlier in my first posting ? these should do the trick.

I have compared /usr/dt/config/C/Xresources with other NORMAL workstations using "diff" command & via visual "vi" inspection. There is no difference. There is no file /etc/dt/config/C/Xresources. Seems like the error in /var/dt/Xerrors is what cause the problem.

Re: Font Size of CDE Login Panel

I'm not sure on this ..... can you post the complete Xerrors file to the forum.

I have one suggestion .... install the latest Xserver patch but it probably won't fix the problem ..... this is strange :(

Re: Font Size of CDE Login Panel

The complete /var/dt/Xerrors messg was :

Deferred initialisation of HP's GLX extension failed.
Report problem to HP & try using "ServerOptions ImmediateLoadDles".
X unable to load extension driver; GLX.
