ignite recovery tape doesn't work
I made a recovery tape using "make_recovery
-A -v" and that seemed to work ok, but when
I try to boot off the tape I hear the tape drive working, then the message appears:
Failed I/O operation
with ENTRY_IO
status = -5
(hex dump)
Error Reading IPL
I would greatly appreciate any help!

Re: ignite recovery tape doesn't work
This sounds like a hardware failure. You may need to replace the tape drive. This may also mean that the tapes you created on the bad drive may not work.

Re: ignite recovery tape doesn't work
You may see the ENTRY_IO status= -5 when using a non-HP tape drive.
If this is the case, check with your Local HP rep, he may be able to loan you or rent you a drive that can be used.
