Login Failed

Failed to login and pop up appear "unable to change to your home directory. Do you want log in anyway (using/instead)?"

What should i do?

Your home directory isn't available: either an NFS mount isn't available or a disc has crashed. Other users affected? Can you log in on a different workstation/server which uses the same home directory?

Thanks for reply. I can log in as root. So, how to solve/rectify in order i can log in home directory.

As Mark said, you have to find out where the directory went. Did your automounter go south?
Or the NFS server died?

When i boot my workstation:

/sbin/fsclean/dev/dsk/c0t4d0 not responding

You may try doing ioscan -fnC disk and check for claimed/not claimed...
There is an article, when good disks go bad, you will find it useful.(attached)

hi try to login with some other domain user (nis user) check whether that user is able to reach the home directory check the etc/password file from nis server whether it is fine.

The message is telling you that disc dev/dsk/c0t4d0 is not available - probably crashed. You could try removing and reseating the disc.

What sort of workstation is it? In the C3000 series that I use you can see the discs if you remove the front cover. If your set up is like this, can you see a disturbance light on the disc?

Do you have a maintenance contract and a backup? If so, it may be time to invoke them.
