Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

I don't read this thread much, so forgive if this is a repost.

When you move questions, it would be nice if you left a pointer to the question instead of a pointer to the category.

For those of us who don't always read the "New HP Forum Discussions" e-mail newsletter in real time (or if we're browsing in non-real time), it would help us re-locate the question.

If you simply point the the category, the moved question gets "lost" as time progresses.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

Dan,

I tried to print some forum questions and responses today, could not get a good result because of the long lines, cut and past a dozen answers is not a solution.

Is there a possibility to get a printer friendly page ?

Kind regards,

Robert-Jan.

Ps. could you repair or remove a posting in my profile just below the responses.

Dan,

How about an edit post feature. It's really a pain when you post with a typo and cannot correct.

hi Dan

how about notifications on points awarded for a particular response? Now notifications are recieved only if another response has been posted to the question.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

Hi Dan,

A new month, but an old problem.

I've updated a thread of me (see http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xbb30b941255cd71190080090279cd0f9,00.html ) and had troubles again posting the reply. It ended up finally 7 times in the post. A bit of overkill.

Hi Dan,

Using Opera, I like the input field for google etc which is build in opera. From any place I can use the searchengine of google. Wouldn't it be nice to have a Forums searchfield like that?

I know I would like it very much!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

Hi Dan

i wanted to add one feedback that i think will help with the openview forums .

i saw that you have on the OpenView Operations (ITO) that is for all the O.S system ,

i think that if you will spilt it to two section : OpenView Operations (ITO) for unix
and OpenView Operations (ITO) for windows

it will be much better .

the ovo system between windows version and unix version it quite diff. and i think that it will be much easier to pepole to find this data with this split.

i m not talking aobut nnm and omniback that doesnt have a lot of diff. between the unix version and the windows version .
but in OpenView Operations (ITO) i think it is importenent .

if you can give me a feedback on this issue it will be great .

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

I'd like to repost some annoyances and/or wishes too that I got remined of by above posts

1. Please use relative width for the message area. Both on reading threads and submitting posts, relatively too much of my screen is unused. It has been requested by many before, so I'm not the only one that would like to see it changed. (reminded to by the long url)

2. I want to be able to *NOT* receive the "New HP Forum Discussions" mail.

3. I want to be able to receive notifications, even if there is more than one e-mail address bound to my ID

4. I want full Opera support. period.

5. I want to have fun. Ehhhr, strike that I *have* fun.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

My request is probably not the first of this kind, but i would be great to have a "reply with history" button in order to have on the same screen the latests threads, and not just the first question. It's better than 2 browsers windows, and easier for questions/answers threads....

Second remarks, there should be a way to attribute the bunny in a thread (which means that the solution is there), when there's no 10 points answers, because the author of the thread found himself and describes the solution.

I always have problems pulling up the search page from the hp-ux Forums page. When I click on search I get:
HTTP 400 - Bad Request
Internet Explorer
The page I get redirected to is:

http://us.itrc.hp.com/emse/bin/doc.pl/forward/screen=emseHome?

Sometimes, if I hit refresh it works, sometimes not.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

hi dan

there are reports of problems with the forums, feature request, bugs etc being captured regularly on this thread. but is there some where these bugs/ feature requests tracked and replies / actions done.

rather than having a separate thread and forgetting it, cant we have something like bugzilla where we track the bugs / problems / feature requests and close them accordingly.

or that there is something similar already which i am not aware of.

When you forum dudes move a post.

Why not a link to the new location of the thread instead of the general area?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

I was complaining to an HP engineer about itrc slowness as I was checking on a support call.

He noted that a lot of downloads go through that site with patches and all.

Has anyone correlated high bandwidth use with complaints of slowness. Maybe there is a trend the real network geeks can figure out.

There was a bout of slowness, two hours ago.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

This week, I've been getting a lot of 500 server errors....When I try to refresh my IE browser, I get "404 page not found". I have to close my browser, then reconnect to ITRC...do you think it's the firewall I'm behind?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

Geoff,

If it is your firewall, then someone has rerouted all of my traffic through your firewall as well. I had a ibg rash of those this morning.

Sorry Dan, I wanted to make a full month without posting to the ???issues??? thread but it doesn???t look like that was in the cards.

Maybe next month???

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

Hi Geoff,

I don't think it's the firewall itself, but maybe the proxy server gives it up after a while (perhaps > 300s for reply?).
Check the time it happens: 15 GMT?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

Being able to search on date criteria would be useful.

Like date > 01/01/2003 or between two dates.

This would help when I'm looking for a particular post and know approximately when it was posted/updated.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - April 2003

Hi Dan & all the others.

Can anyone remind me how do 'notify me' e-mails look like? I can barely remember... Haven't received any for ages...

Or mayby just nobody uses this forum? ;)

Thanks
Good luck

That's really cool Dan! How did you get Adam to answer himself like that? Are you a ventriloquist, too?

I'm impressed!

NOTE FROM DAN: Pete, you and John got me. Those darn cookies...I had to check Adam's account to verify his settings and next thing I know I'm posting under his name. Sorry Adam...no harm no foul? See "my" post below.

Hi,

Uh, that's weird. I see Adam's post about the e-mail notification, and I see a post right after it that appears to be a reply from Dan, but the ID for that post shows that it is from Adam also. Huh? :)

NOTE FROM DAN: John, check my note to Pete above....thanks for the eagle eyes.

Dan,

I didn't want you to think that performance was *too* good this morning. There were a few "doggy" spells. Here's statistics (thanks to Merijn) that document same:
