Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Paul, FYI...as the 'move' feature of the forums is a little less than glamorous, thought you'd like to know you can find your post in the print servers area here:

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Dan,

I've been experiencing this issue, when I get the notification from ITRC for new discussion. I open it, click on one of the questions, which takes me to the itrc forums and then when I click on reply, it prompts for login. Till this point everything is normal, when I input my ID and password it states " Could not login"
The only way form me to login is to open another browser and I login without any problem. This is not only from home but from the office too. I wonder if it is both PCs or something to do with the itrc site.
Appreciate your feed back.
Thanks

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

I don't know what this means but....

I've been using itrc for an hour today, via a cellular modem that maxes at 19.2 Kbps when the planets are aligned properly.

Why, well Nurse Ratchet has me chained to the bed all day.

The site worked just fine. All delays appeared normal for graphics downloads, when I hit pages with lots of hats and rabbits on them.

If anyone things itrc issues have to due with client bandwidth, think again.

Hi Dan:

I believe the infamous time synchronization has returned. I am posting this at 1229 EST which should be 1729 GMT.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Hi Dan---
I just posted a question (about fbackub vs Netbackup). A couple of members replied, and I gave them points--no problemo. But when I hit the button, I was taken to: http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/ciss/login.do?TargetPage=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.itrc.hp.com%2Fcm%2FPostAnswer%2F0%2C%2C0xfa8be3ed7640d71190080090279cd0f9%2C00.html&admit=-1335382922+1045503016829+28353475

Which is completely blank. (Ain't copy & paste wunnerful?)

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

XMAN...not sure, but its highly likely something to do with cookies that the ITRC sets on your machine. Check your browser settings for cookies. Try refreshing your first browser session versus closing and opening a new one. In the meantime, I'll submit this to the ITRC support team.

James, all servers are in synch with each other, but it does appear they are out of synch with true GMT. I'll get it reported, thanks. At least messages should appear in the correct order!

Chris, I have no idea why the page was blank, but I have run into a similar problem on other web sites (pages being blank, no error). The URL you provided is the "post reply" page wrapped up in the login page (which is correct since you weren't yet logged in). So while the URL was correct, the login page didn't display. I think it was one of "those" times. Sorry about that....(ps: click on the URL, login, and you'll go to the reply page for your thread).

Thanks,
Dan

Even with K-Meleon, I lately require at least two submits before points are accepted.

Good Morning, Dan:

Since I don't believe my timezone has changed I'll note again that the support staff needs to *fix the time* (again!). I am posting this at 0933 EST which should equate to 1433 GMT. Note that it doesn't!!!

Regards!

Look on the bright side, James. Yesterday it was 40 minutes off, today it's only 39. At this rate, we should be in sync with real time around April fool's day.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Dan,
When I clicked on the link in my previous post, I was again taken to a completely blank page.

As to logging in, whenever I come here, I get the "Welcome Chris Vail" message. So somehow, the system recognizes me.

I be a syadmin geek not a web geek, so all I can guess is that some cookie or something else is in cache on my Internet Exploder 5.0 box that causes this to happen.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Ricardo,

The Forums Etiquette, authored by the esteemed Patrick Walleck, suggests that congratulatory threads only be started for royalty and above. Though there are exceptions to this guideline, for the most part folks tend to stick to it.

Congratulations from me, anyway.

Ricardo,

I will e-mail Farley's info to his specified e-mail address. Please e-mail me (frank_slootweg@hp.com) his e-mail address, so I can check that it is what the ITRC says it is.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Hi Pete,

Don't worry about misspelling my last name. I've had it mangled much worse than that.

Dan -- It appears that the servers are out of sync time-wise again. Pete's post about misspelling my name appears BEFORE the post that has the error in it.

The time goblins also rearranged some posts in http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xb690e3ed7640d71190080090279cd0f9,00.html

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Hi Dan:

Ditto to Patrick's notation that despite what you were told, the various servers are *not* synchronized to one another. Not only are Pete's posts rearranged here, but another thread I have been following has mangled entries. Fortunately (?) in that thread, the order of replies don't alter the discussion appreciably.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Dan,

It appears that the time sync issue is getting worse. New questions are appearing 3 or 4 questions down in the list in the HP-UX family home page.

I'm posting this at 11:48 CST.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Hi Dan,

Was wondering if resetting the time causes the *outages* we see.
I couldn't get into the forum from 12:00 --> 13:00 CDT and didn't retry until 14:15 at which I could get in.

They must have to down the DB to reset the time...smart...ANNOYING...but smart.

Jeff
