Smart 3200 Array Controller
Machine boots up and when it gets to the controller it comes back with this error
1783 slot 4 Array Controller Failure, [command failure cmd=11h err=020h ]
The drives only light up with the power but remain unlit afterwards, The machine has been perfect and shut off for 1 year. It is clean and even after reseating the smart 3200 controller it remains a failure. Is there anything I can try? Please advise me of this. Also, please answer this... On the main board the there are 2 lights a green and red. the red light seems to be next to VAUX. Is this suppose to be on. I do not recall. Please advise me ASAP.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: Smart 3200 Array Controller
Relative to the controller failure... I had that problem a few months ago and Compaq had me replace the controller. Get a new 3200 controller and replace the problem controller and you'll be up and running again in minutes. If you're concerned about data being present in the array accelerator of the old controller you can take the accelerator off the old controller and seat it on the new one.

Re: Smart 3200 Array Controller
Ok, you probably have an older firmware revision. Any firmware revision below 4.4 on ANY smart II array controller have a known bug that causes them to crash. Use the smart start to get the update or download it. The lastest firmware update is 4.48 for all Smart II, this includes 4200, 5300 controllers..
I have 200+ Servers and most of them have this problem...But im updating them as I go.

Re: Smart 3200 Array Controller
Hello,
Thanks for the replies.. I just wanted to let you know that the only way to fix this was to replace the controller. Seems like the smart3200 controllers are dropping like flies. So do yourselves a favour and if you see this error. Just do two things.. Re-seat the controller and if that does not work then get compaq on the phone and get yourself a replacement controller and fast.

Stephen
