Re: Using a Tesla K80 in a Dl380 G8
Hello
Tesla K80 is not supported by this server.
Follow the DL380 Gen8 Quickspace for more information.

Re: Using a Tesla K80 in a Dl380 G8
I know this is an old post, but in case anyone else runs into this, getting Tesla cards working in older gen8 servers is pretty easy.
Go into the bios, press Ctrl + A to activate the Service Options menu. In that menu, you enable "PCI Express 64-Bit BAR Support", save, and exit.
This is tested and working with K80 and M40 cards with a DL380p gen8 on linux.
Worth noting that without the UEFI bios (gen9 and newer) this setting can cause some odd glitches like breaking KVM completely, which I'm sure is the reason it is hidden.

Re: Using a Tesla K80 in a Dl380 G8
I am about to purchase both a DL380 G8 and a Tesla K80 and I was wondering what psu's you have and what power adapters you needed to get the K80 to work, as it takes an 8 pin eps connector.
Thanks, Finn

Thank you for this. I'd been scratching my head over this for a while.

Re: Using a Tesla K80 in a Dl380 G8
@CompDR When you enabled PCI Express 64-Bit BAR Support did you experience the 'Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception"?
When I enable this, the machine fails to boot with the above error and loops. Any suggestions?

Re: Using a Tesla K80 in a Dl380 G8
Thanks for sharing this and sorry to also revive an old post.
I am thinking of putting a K80 in one of my DL380p G8 servers, currently the fans are running at 23% so relatively quiet, any chance you know if the fans stay low with the K80 installed? I have had issues with the 4 Port HP Gigabit NIC causing fans to run at around 50% so a little noisy for my home lab.

Re: Using a Tesla K80 in a Dl380 G8
@BradH1 I unfortunately did not choose to get a K80 for my server. The work I do with my Proliant benefits more from processor power than graphics power. My fans run around 17% with an inlet temperature of 71 degrees Fahrenheit when idle. Most of the K80s I have seen online are passively cooled so the fans would likely be affected but I am not sure by how much. Hope this helps.

Re: Using a Tesla K80 in a Dl380 G8
@Kingboo2314 Thank you for taking the time to reply, considering how old this thread is. I ended up skipping the K80 after much consideration. My inlet temp is 28 degrees celsius (82.4 F) so not going to risk it as excess fan noise is the last thing I need. I found the PCIe NIC was causing the fans to run around 50% so hate to see what it would be like with something that actually generates a decent amount of heat.
