Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

HP just sent out an advisory on this problem the other day:

http://alerts.hp.com/r?2.1.3KT.2ZR.%5fKSjA.D7gIwE..N.H8f0.1qcU.bW89MQ%5f%5fCVfWFNX0

They say to upgrade to 1.11 in the article. I haven't tried it yet, but based on those who have tried it here already, doesn't appear to fix the issue. Staying at 1.8 for now I guess.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

I have a NLB-cluster with 2 BL460c running 64bits w2003 and have the same problem i've tried 1.8, 1.9 and 1.11 and the problem still exist. Now i'm trying cold reboot and hopefully the problem is solved for the moment.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

No ASR after cold boot on my two servers 17/4. Event 57 hpqilo2 still coming up on one of the servers although the 2 servers have identical firmware & drivers.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

I am running Win2k8 Std 64bit on a BL465c G5. I to am having the same issues with ASR's and the attempts as all the others above have been done with no resolution.

Just a question but everyone who are getting these ASR, are you running SIM (Insight Manager) Version 5.3 (with hotfix)?

YES we are and I've applied the new version and my BL685c are still rebooting.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

Yes at least I am:
Version: Systems Insight Manager 5.3 - Windows
Build version: C.05.03.00.00
Build date: 2008-12-10 15:46
Patches: HOTFIX53_001.jar Thu, 2/19/2009, 9:42 AM CET

It's on a BL460c with Windows 2003 R2 x64 patched and using HP Support pack 8.20A. I've downgraded the ilo2 management driver back to 1.8.0.0 (from 1.9.0.0 which failed for me), and all my ASR/BSOD problems and the hpqilo2 warning messages went away. I think I'm going to stick to the old 1.8.0.0 for now. I have NOT tested 1.11.0.0 though.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

I have
Version: Systems Insight Manager 5.3 - Windows
Build version: C.05.03.00.00

I have two BL460c with Windows 2003 x64 using HP Support pack 8.20A. I've downgraded the ilo2 management driver back to 1.8.0.0 and cold boot the systems, 1.9 & 1.11 failed, no ASR problems since then but the hpqilo2 warning messages still exist on one of the servers.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

i have had some issues as well

i upgraded HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver for Windows to version 1.11 (from 1.8) on both a dl 380 and 360 g5 2 days ago.

both running windows 2008 server x64

on the dl380g5 i get the same event id 57 warnings a couple of times per day (and about 5-10 in a go) on the dl360g5 i don't get any event id's but the server stopped functioning today and only a powercycle using the rilo card got the machine up and running again (it was just frozen, nothing in the event log, no memory dump and ASR also did not kick in which would have been handy if it had)

i am considering rolling back the rilo driver on both the 360 and 380 to 1.8, i did not apply the full 8.2 psp but i updated the individual components using hp version control agent but i think in effect it is the same as applying psp 8.2 although 1 or 2 components are slightly newer drivers than 8.2

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

the dl360 g5 has now started with event id 57 warnings also and completely hung on me yesterday (had to powercycle to get it up and running again)

i have now downgraded to version 1.8 for the rilo card on both servers and hope that this will solve the issue

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

Hi,
I have the same problems with several servers (DL380G5, BL460C,..).In our environment all affected servers have Windows 2008 X64 installed. However, I opened a case at HP (Case-#:1604780948) regarding this problem. There are two possible workarrounds at the moment:
First: Downgrade the ILO2 Management Controller driver from 1.11 (latest) to 1.8.
Second: disable ARS on the affected servers.
If HP gives me some new information about the problem I will post it.

Here's a number of different versions for the Bl460c W2003 X64:

There is a different one for 32 bit systems I believe.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

Thank you. I'm having the same issues on new BL460c Blades running Win Server 2003 x32.

I built them with PSP 8.20 which installed the 1.9 iLo Controller driver and this is where I first saw the problem. Upgrading to 1.11 didn't correct it. I've now downgraded to 1.8 a short while ago so we'll see soon enough what the results are.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

my situation has deteriorated a bit

1) the dl380 g5 rebooted due to ASR, i have downgraded all the 4 updates i applied before any of the issues occured and this box now seems stable

2) the dl360g5 continues to log event id57 and i am now also downgrading all the 4 updates i applied prior to the problems started

it is a real issue for me as these 2 boxes make up my new exchange 2007 envirornment, luckily i had not migrated any users over apart from my own mailbox.

i will let you know if downgrading the psp components on the dl360g4 will resolve the issue

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

My situation improved, but hasn't been cured.

A downgrade to iLo Managment Controller 1.8 is causing far fewer Event Log Warnings (thanks to you folks), but they still cropping up periodically (again, not nearly as much though).

So far 2 ASRs over the course of five days across 16 new BL460c blades running PSP 8.20, Win Server 2003 32-Bit.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

HP closed my case with the suggestion to downgrade to 1.8. First After I coldboot my BL460:s(powered down and pull them in and out)i've get rid of the event 57. No ASR or events in a week.

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

i downgraded to 1.8 but continued to have event id 57 warnings and 2x ASR reboots on dl380 and 360 g5

only when I donwgraded the HP ProLiant Remote Monitor Service for Windows Server 2003/2008 x64 Editions to 5.20.0.0 (from 5.21) and a reboot did the event id57 errors stop and have not had a ASR reboot for 2 1/2 days now, i am keeping my fingers crossed and will wait at least another week before i take these boxes in production again

all other psp software is up to date

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

Same here on my bl480c and bl460c. After update all the drivers, i have the ID57 event relative to ilo on my Windows 2008 x64 logs.

And some ASR.

I revert to driver 1.8

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

The problem we were experiencing was the server would not shutdown for 20 minutes after PSP 8.20 was applied to a DL360 G5 x32 2003 server. We also received event id 57. The ilo firmware is 1.77. HP posted an advisory about this but the solution to upgrade to HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver Version 1.11.0.0 did not work for us: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01704271&dimid=1045547850&dicid=alr_apr09&jumpid=em_alerts/us/apr09/all/xbu/emailsubid/mrm/mcc/loc/rbu_category/alerts.

I was able to solve the problem by downgrading the following components using psp 8.15(B):
HP Proliant ILO 2 Management Controller Driver to 1.8.0.0
HP Proliant Remote Monitor Service to 5.20.0.0
HP Proliant Interface Lights-Out Interface Management Driver to 1.13.0.0
HP Proliant Smart Array SAS/SATA Event Notification Service for Windows Server 2003/2008 to 6.10.0.32
HP System Management Homepage to 2.1.15.210

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

Has anyone tried upgrading Online ROM Flash for windows x64 to ver 1.77 yet? I'm wondering if that would have an effect on this problem using ver 1.11.0 ILO2 management cotroller? Anyone?

Re: BL460c ILO2 problem after firmware (ROM flash) upgrade to 1.70

We are using 1.77 but it is on x32, haven't tried on x64. In my case, firmware didn't seem to be the issue since I had 1.77 prior to the support pack and didn't have issues.

Before the driver downgrade, i apply the 1.77 firmware but the problem remains.
