SIM displays multiple servers instead of a single one with multiple virtual IP addresses
I have a handful of 2003 WEB servers with multiple virtual IP addresses. Agents 7.20 are installed. All of them appear as the following in SIM4.2:
- each virtual interface appears as a separate server named after it's corresponding IP address.
- the "real" device appears too and it has proper server name and only one IP, primary one, is shone on the Identify page.
My understanding that SIM should be able to display only one "real" device and show all virtual addresses on this server's Identify page.
Does anyone know how to fix it?
Cheers,
Denis Sizov

I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?

Re: SIM displays multiple servers instead of a single one with multiple virtual IP addresses
I had a similar situation with servers with multiple physical NICs.
I found the best way to add these was to do a Manual Discovery and specify the IP addresses one by one.
Then, run an Identify Systems task against the device, this should associate the various IPs with the one device.
Hope this helps ...

Re: SIM displays multiple servers instead of a single one with multiple virtual IP addresses
Hi Denis,
It seems your problem is that you registered the Virtual IP with the different Name in your DNS for WEB redirection purpose.
Sakti is right. Adding it manually by specifying the original IP could correct your problem.

Ruel
