Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Major fun. index page shows subject "thanks Dan - helping to solve my problems and i got my many old friends back" and three messages to the question. When I hit the link I get to
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x1dbd68da2286d711abdc0090277a778c,00.html
where there is no subject, no message, and no answers

Enjoy, have FUN! H.Merijn

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Mr. Debian here has posted in quaduplicate.

Perhaps before there is a response to his vague question we can cut that down to one post.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Note on the search engine:
Look at this thread.
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xc0d368da2286d711abdc0090277a778c,00.html

A note on the search methodology.

I searched by clicking search, then clicking patches, 11.00 then putting in PHCO_24347

Note how itrc was smart enough to provice me the current patch, not the superseded one.

I believe the other searches were directly for the patch off the main menu. I guess this shows some issues with itrc.

Also, itrc at its best. Four valid solutions within 60 seconds.

7 minutes after the question post an answer.

I guess thats a forum success too.

I hope the man hands out a bunny(prejudiced, yes I am) -----

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Dan,

I found two strange "incidents" in the reply of a question.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x7bdd68da2286d711abdc0090277a778c,00.html

Netscape did want to open the follow up links on the page.

http://www.hp.com/cposupport/networking/support_doc/bpj06765.html#P1_54

Using IE I got the follow up link requested by the forum client.

The second strange incident is that I answered

If you have any questions feel free letting us know.

If you look in the response I made you will see

If you have any questions feel free telling letting us know.

I removed the "telling" with the backspace button on my keyboard before I saved my answer on the forum ??????????

Kind regards,

Robert-Jan.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/PostAnswerTrxn/1,,0xb4e068da2286d711abdc0090277a778c,00.html

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

More dups to clean up.

Two threads.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xd408595fae8bd711abdc0090277a778c,00.html

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x7f08595fae8bd711abdc0090277a778c,00.html

I was getting 404 errors which usually means the submit didn't post.

I was watching the threads in other windows and clicked in and saw nothing.

Gosh I feel stupid.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Hi Dan,

Looks like NTP issues have raised their ugly head once again:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x1f0b595fae8bd711abdc0090277a778c,00.html

Pete "Miss Cleo" Randall has amazingly answered the question 24 minute ahead of the post.

Later,
Jeff

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Morning Dan,

It appears that the time out-of-sync issue is back.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/FamilyHome/1,,117,00.html

Pete Randall's post is time stamped 24 minutes before the question itself. I know Pete's good, but I didn't think he was quite that good. ;)

Hi Dan:

Our infamous time warp problem has returned. See here:

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Hmmm.....Time out-of-sync issues here too. There's no way Jeff's post is 30 minutes before JRF's or my post.

It also appears that I posted the wrong URL. JRF's got it right. I could have sworn that I copied that darn link......

Apparently I've also been bitten by the IE duplicate post problem. Grrr..... I hate IE!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Wait.

If I switch to Mozilla to post, there will be no duplicate posting problem?

I can switch at home.

I can use mozilla on my HP-UX boxes.

Revered Olympians, can I really solve my problem with a browser switch?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

For example, i started this search:

And i know there are many, some are being edited just now.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Steven,

I use Opera almost exclusively and I have never had a problem with duplicate postings. When I respond to a question though, I have to submit the response, wait for a 404 error, go back and submit again in order for it to work.

Add hpux to your search,

argument: kernel hpux
areas: forums

This is itrc magic :>)

submits are continuously failing for me today. I have to click hundreds of times to get a reply committed. not only that but it's real annoying when you've typed in a load of text and find out that it's all lost.

( why am i not suprised that it's happening on this post too )

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Has anyone noticed how BAD the itrc search window looks in Mozilla.

The screen is super wide with a seemingly meaningless blank blue area to the left.

Its probably their fault.

Thats mozilla for hp-ux

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Is anyone else using Google Advanced Search to search the HP forums? I like it better than the built-in search utility.

http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en

Here is a link to a screen capture on my website. Note the "site or domain" parameter.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

I beg your pardon.

The correct parameter for searching the ITRC forums is:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com

The parameter in my earlier screen capture will search the business forums.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003

Yeah Dan.....
I'm still having problems logging in. It seems that no matter how many times I remove the cm cookie from Internet Exploder, I continue to get blank pages after logging in.

I was only able to get to this page by press so many times that I found myself logged in from a previous session.
